Read on to learn about a variety of resources for blind people when it comes to delivery apps available and how to use them.

Amazon Prime

As a subscription service, Amazon Prime allows customers to receive orders without paying delivery fees. Prime offers deals and sales to members; unlimited online storage for photos, access to music, videos, books, and entertainment. A Prime membership costs $199.00 per year or $12.99 per month. It offers both online and in-store perks like unlimited free delivery and fuel discounts from participating gas stations. The retailer waves any shipping minimum fees for members.

Instacart

Instacart allows users to place orders on its website and apps. Where you live will determine what stores are available. A personal shopper will fulfill and deliver your order. You could receive your delivery in two hours. You should receive it the same day, however, if it doesn’t arrive during that time frame, contact Instacart support or message your personal shopper to see if there are any issues!

Instacart Express lets shoppers make purchases from multiple stores with one order. There’s no delivery fee if the order is over $35. You’ll pay $3.99 if you don’t meet that minimum. Be sure to consider peak delivery times because this fee could be higher. You can expect your order to arrive  in an hour. An Express Plus membership costs $99 annually or $9.99 monthly.

Like Instacart, you can track your order in real time. You can also purchase pet supplies and fill prescriptions, but always check to see what’s available in your area. Here’s how this service differs from Instacart:

  • It requires shoppers to buy a membership costing $99.00 annually or $14.00 monthly.

  • Deliveries are free if over $35. If this minimum isn’t met, you’ll pay a $7 delivery fee.

  • Prices in store differ from those online. These are convenience costs. You’ll pay $5 more per order to cover these costs along with the $7 fee.

  • The service is available in select cities in 48 states.

  • You can use a store’s rewards card if you have one.

  • Receive rewards for referrals.

  • Offer discounts for individual products.

  • Allow shoppers to choose substitute products.

The Hy-Vee Aisles Online program allows for groceries to be delivered for free, but the Hy-Vee Plus membership costs $99.00 annually. If a customer does decide to upgrade to the Plus program, they will receive monthly deals and coupons. Online deliveries can be picked up within two hours and they will also receive perks when using their Hy-Vee card at gas stations. If you do not purchase the membership, each delivery costs $9.99.
